Believe You Will Receive

"Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you." Mark 11:24

How great it is to be a child of God! I have two wonderful sons that are now teenagers. Anyone that has or has had teenagers know that we do not need to tell them anything. They already know everything and in their minds, their mother and dad seem to know the very least about any situation they are dealing with. I remember as a teenager myself my parents telling me that they know the things I am going through and how to best handle the situation. I never believed them and thought I could handle all situations on my own or at least better than Mom and Dad.

Gosh, now that I look back in time, life could have been so much easier if I would have just asked my parents, the ones that love and pray for the very best for me, how to handle the situations I am dealing with. The same is true with our Heavenly Father. Who knows better how to handle all situations? Our Heavenly Father says all we have to do is pray and believe that we will receive, and it will be granted.

Our Heavenly Father is a LOVING God and only wants the best for his children. We only need to understand that we cannot achieve Success on our own. We must know God's purpose in our life, ask for what we need and believe we will receive. How awesome is our God!!

When will we see Success?

"This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success". Joshua 1:8

What more can I say, Joshua said it all. AMEN!

My Purpose...

"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

One of the toughest questions I get as a Real Estate Instructor is this; "Can I be successful as a real estate agent?" If I have learned anything from teaching real estate, it is that I cannot predict who will be successful selling real estate. I have also learned that I am not the one to ask. Before we make decisions concerning careers, problems, our family, or anything else, we must determine if the decision will meet God's purpose for our life. In other words, we must learn to ask God if a career in real estate, or anything else we are considering, will be according to God's purpose. If God points you into real estate, all things (including real estate) will work together for good to those that love God.

Seek God's purpose for you life. That is the only way to be sure you will make the right decision. Never question you ability to acheive God's purpose. Nothing can stand in your way! "If God is for us, who is against us? Romans 8:31b

God will make us successful if we perform all we do according to God's purpose. If we have any other purpose, we will never achieve SUCCESS!

Time to go to Work

"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life." Proverbs 13:12

Hope deferred is procrastination. There have been many days I come home from work feeling somewhat sickly. Not that I am physically sick, just "sick and tired". Much of being sick and tired has a lot to do with putting things off we do not want to do today. We know our work is not complete, yet we put it off for another time or another day. Procrastination will make you feel sick at heart.

Every day should have goals to be met. Set your goals, focus, get motiviated and accomplish all of you daily goals with great diligence! You may be tired as you sit at the dinner table with your family, but at least you will not be Sick and Tired.

Father give me strength and motivation to accomplish all I must do today with great passion and diligence. AMEN.

Being Diligent in all you do

"Poor is he who works with a negligent hand, but the hand of the diligent makes rich." Proverbs 10:4

This is one of my favorite verse's in the Bible when it comes to business. It needs no interpretation and is perfectly clear. Success is hard work and being the very best you can possibly be. Taking shortcuts and not doing your very best will result in failure. To be certain, lets define Diligence.

Diligence, as defined by wikipedia, means; •Diligence is a zealous and careful nature in one's actions and work, exemplified by a decisive work ethic, budgeting of one's time, monitoring one's own activities to guard against laziness, and putting forth full concentration in one's work. Diligence is usually promoted in work places.

Unfortunately, too many are staying home and waiting on the government to support there needs rather than working hard to support their families and becoming successful in the workplace. Our Heavenly Father can and will provide so much more than our government. Whereas the government helps the lazy, our Heavenly Father guarantees great success to those that are diligent in all they do.

Other versus concerning Diligence include:
"The hand of the diligent will rule, but the slack hand will be put to forced labor." Proverbs 12:24 If you do not work hard to build and have your own business, you will be forced to work for others. You control your own destiny and achievements.
"The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the soul of the diligent is made fat." Proverbs 13:4 The lazy will never be fulfilled and always wanting whereas the diligent will have a fulfilled soul and will want nothing.

Father help me to be diligent in all I do today so that I may be successful and pleasing in your eyes.

Time to Replace Fear with Peace

"Do not be afraid of sudden fear nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught." Proverbs 3: 25-26

Fear is one, if not the worst emotion one can have. The feeling of fear is aweful and so many things can evoke fear in our lives. Some fear is good. If you are hiking in the mountains and come upon a bear, I suggest you do not attempt petting the bear and talk about how cute he his. This type of fear can save your life by telling your brain to get out of these woods!

When we make decisions based on fear, it nearly always results in a bad decision and makes our situation even worse. Although there are times when we question why God would allow bad things to happen, we must understand that God is God and He is in control. We shall never understand the things God does through our finite minds. We are instructed to trust and obey. That takes all the pressure off of me and put into the hands of our Heavenly Father.

When things happen in our lives to cause fear, place your problems at the feet of our Heavenly Father and ask for the Peace of God to calm our spirit before making any decisions. A peaceful mind with clear direction will always be the right decision!!

Take a friend to hear the good news in church tomorrow!!

Why Worry? Be Happy!

"And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?" Mathew 6:27

One of the scariest times in ones life is starting over again. I see this reality every day as we teach those desiring to start a career in some area of real estate. People come to us seeking their real estate license for all kinds of reasons but many have no income due to being laid off from their jobs. Many live thier days filled with uncertainty and in fear of what life has in store for today. Anxieity fills our mind, soul and hearts. When we make decisions filled with anxietity, rarely do things work out the way we would hope.

Our Heavenly Father knows our needs even better than we know all our needs. He always has and always will provide for all of our needs. Our problem is learning to accept his help and stop trying to make it on our own. This is what brings anxiety into our lives. Anxieity will blind us and keep us from reaching our desired destiny in life.

Worrying will not help anything and will certainly not make any part of our lives better. Seek those things commanded by Jesus through prayer. As we learn to walk in the steps of Jesus, we will find that life is good and every day is another day closer to Heaven.

I pray today that all I do and all I say will be pleasing to you Father. I will no longer worry about those things I cannot control. Help me to be diligent in all I do and gratefully accept the awesome blessings you have instore for me today.

Ask for whatever you wish!

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in me." John 15:4

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." John 15:7

As my pastor said a few weeks ago, we must put aside the American Dream and work harder on the Heavenly Dream. As you all know, I very much love practicing and teaching real estate. I have many goals in my business plan and work very hard, day in and day out to accomplish those goals. I also have a desire to acheive the American Dream. Although there is nothing wrong with a desire for the American Dream, Jesus said our dreams will not come true unless we "abide" in him. Abide means to comply with and obey. Jesus was never concerned about the American Dream, rather to please our Heavenly Father and to carry out his commandments.

We work so hard for the things that matter the least. Jesus said for us to abide in him and whatever I wish, it will be done for me. Perhaps we should abide in Jesus and have his words abide in us so we can have all those things we need. Success is built on relationships with friends. Jesus also said in John 15:14, "You are My friends if you do what I command you". True Friends love and care for each other so much that they are willing to lay down their life for each other, just as Jesus did for us. Spend today making friends and building relationships and you will find this day to be the most fulfilling day you will spend.

If we will spend the time and effort building the Heavenly Dream, you will find the American Dream will not be far behind. We must get our priorities in order before we can achieve the ultimate SUCCESS!!

I pray that today will produce new friends that I may share my Heavenly dreams.

Growing Stonger in Uncertain Times

"Consider it all joy, my bretheren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." James 1: 2-4

What a great and wonderful time to be a small business owner today! I know what you are thinking, we are living through the worst recession in the past generation. The economy is in the tank and showing no signs of improvement. Much uncertainty exist with pending government regulation and no one seems to know what the government is doing or trying to do.

James tells us to consider it all joy when we encounter various trails. It is often hard to grow and keep a positive perpective when everything around us seems to be crumbling. Just know that God will never forsake us or leave us. He knows what we can handle and what we cannot handle. We must trust in the inspired words of James and endure the trials by seeking God's wisdom and obeying his commands. The tests we endure produces perfection so that your life and/or business will be lacking nothing.

Father, give me strength to endure the many trials I will encounter today and tomorrow. Give me the wisdom to deal with all trials in a manner that will be pleasing to you. Use each trial to make me strong so that endurance will not be a concern, rather, it will be a habbit.

Success is Yours for the Taking

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith." 2Timothy 4:7

For two years I have heard and listened to nearly everyone I talk to tell me how bad the real estate industry is. In fact, you know it is bad when charities call you wanting donations, and as soon as you tell them you are in real estate, they decide to send money to you. Thousands of real estate agents have quit over the last couple of years and most real estate schools in South Carolina have closed the doors.

Even during the worst of times, Top Producers not only survived the worst recession we have seen in our life time, many that I have talked to say they actually did better the last couple of years than ever before. How can they continue to do so well when most took a huge hit in their life style and many others just quit? Its because they believe the words spoken by Paul in the passage above. They know if they fight the good fight with all they have, they have faith they will win the fight! The winners/survivors chose not to believe or listen to the nay Sayers. All we heard over the last 2 years is how bad real estate is and no one can survive in real estate.

I know things are really looking good in real estate because I now only hear about half of those I talk to say real estate is still not a good industry to be in. The fact of the matter is simply. Those that seek the Lords guidance and have faith the Lord will deliver in all conditions and circumstances, we not only be standing at the end of the fight, we will have VICTORY!! Do not listen to those of little or no faith for they shall be defeated. Be diligent in all you do and success will surely be yours.

Paul tells Timothy that there will be many that do not listen to sound instruction, rather, listen to others that are saying what they want to hear. Followers in Christ must continue the good fight and have faith that our Lord will see that we all experience VICTORY!

Forgiving is not Forgetting

"But one whom you forgive anything, I forgive also; for indeed what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, I did it for you sakes in the presence of Christ, so that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes." 2 Corinthians 2: 10-11

We are instructed as Christians to forgive those that have offended us in any way. When others do things that cause harm to our families, our business, or to ourselves, by nature, we want to get back at the one that has caused the pain. This desire to seek revenge is an act of hatred and will grow and manifest within us until we learn to let it go. The only way to let go is by forgiving those that hurt us.

It might be impossible to forget the things that others have done and that is ok. Forgiving is not forgetting. When you forgive someone for things they have done, it means that you will not hold it against them any longer. It is a thing of the past. We cannot live in the future without leaving behind the past. We must decide to leave the past or be stuck in the past. Forgive those that have hurt you and leave behind the pain. As Paul writes in verse 11, Satan will cause havoc in our lives by playing off the pain and revenge we seek so desperately.

Revenge belongs to the Lord. We are instructed to forgive and leave the dirty work for our loving God. God will ensure every unrepentant person receives what they deserve. Remove the pain from your heart so your mind can function properly and be happy the rest of your days.

Making the Right Decision Every Time

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of god may be adequate, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3: 16-17

I tell my real estate students to successfully complete the class and pass the state exam, it is critical to read all the material. This is a fairly thick book and a lot of information to remember. Students often complain that it is just too much to remember. I just encourage them to read the information. Within our brain we have a reticular activating system (RAS) which is located at the base of the brain. This part of the brain stores information as the brain receives it through any of the five senses. As long as you read the material, the brain will store it so we can retrieve it if we ever need it.

The Bible is a thick book with a lot of information as well. For many years, I did not read the bible very much. Not because I did not believe it or think it was useless. I just thought it was too much to read. I find now that the more I read it, the more I need and want to read it. God's desire is for everyone to have all they desire. God has said to ask in faith and you shall receive. We must be disciplined to know what is good and what is bad. Often times, we make bad decisions in our businesses and personal lives because the decision we made was not inspired by God.

Paul is instructing Timothy that all scripture is inspired by God. There will always be temptations to do things we should not do and so many times, these things may seem to make sense. The more you read and meditate on the inspired word of God, we will begin to make the right decision every time.

I encourage you to also read the first five versus of 2 Timothy, chapter 3. In the last days, without the inspired word of God, it will become more and more difficult to make the right decision.

Indian Youth's Rite of Passage

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

His dad takes him into the forest, blindfolds, and leaves him alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not take off the blindfold until the rays of the sun shine through it. He is all by himself. He cannot tell the other boys of this experience. Each lad must come into his own manhood.

The boy was terrified and could hear all kinds of noises. Beasts were all around him. Maybe even some human would hurt him. The wind blew the grass and earth, and it shook is stump. Be he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It was the only way he could become a man.

Finally, after a horrific night, the sun appeared and he removed his Blindfold. It was then that he saw his father sitting on the stump next to him, at watch the entire night.

We are never alone. Even when we do not know it, our Father is protecting us. He is sitting on a the stump beside us.

All we have to do is reach out to Him.

Criticism Can Be Greater Than Love

"Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy." Proverbs 27:6

Parents know one of the toughest things we must do is to discipline our children. Its not something we want to do anymore than the child wants it, but we do out of love. We want to ensure our children do not make the kind of mistakes that will hurt them.

The same is true of our friends. For those we love, we often offer criticism about something they are doing or plan to do. Those that do not have the same concern will offer encouragement and and support for the same idea. In many cases, those that would say all is good and to move forward with the plan may very well hope you fail.

True friends will tell it the way it is, even when it is not what the friend wants to hear. Friends do not want to hurt or cause pain to friends by being critical, but they do it out of love.

Dear God, surround me with friends today that will offer loving criticism when needed. AMEN.

Give Up The Last Word

"For lack of wood the fire goes out, And where there is no whisperer, contention quiets down." Proverbs 26:20

I think people are so funny. I receive emails and/or phone calls from real estate agents every day asking for my opinion on a certain matter. Like most, I certainly have my fair share of opinions. Often times when I reveal my opinion to their question, agents disagree and try to change my opinion.

Some agents will become very contentious if they cannot change my opinion. I have learned this Proverb is so true. Now I determine very quickly if the person contacting me really wants my honest opinion or are they looking for someone to agree with them. The more we say the more aggravated we both get.

Solomon is saying to state your opinion and hush. There is no need to continue throwing wood on this fire. Most people are looking for those to agree with them at all cost and nothing you can say will change that. Fewer words will keep others as friends much longer.

My Grandfather would tell me on many occasions, "it is better to keep you mouth shut and let other think you are dumb, then to open it and remove all doubt."

Revenge Will Lead to Distruction

"If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink." Proverbs 25:21

Is it just me, or does it seem like business people wake up in the morning thinking of ways to hurt their competition? It even has the feel of a chess game. One business makes a move and their competition will counter the move. Eventually, after enough moves, one or both business/competitors grow angry at the other. We will do well to plow our own field and stay out of what others are doing. I hear on a daily basis from others about things they have done or planning to do to hurt or get back at the competitors.

Solomon says we should do just the opposite. Help your enemies when they are in need. Do not be concerned about the competition. If we continue to be diligent in all that we do, success shall be ours (Prov 10:4). A very dear friend and mentor of mine, Jerry Fowler, would speak to our students at the Real Estate School for Success from time to time. He openly shared his "secrets of success" with the soon to be new real estate agents. One of the students asked Jerry why he was so free sharing his secrets since others could now use those secrets to do more business than Jerry. Jerry replied by saying "I will do anything for anyone if it would help them become successful in real estate; but let's be clear, you will never be competition to me".

Jerry did not make the statement in a mean or condescending way. He simply was saying that once you learn how to be successful, it does not matter what your competition is doing. Continue to be diligent and do what is right and what you know best and life will be very good.

Dealing with Hard Times

"The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the Lord tests hearts." Proverbs 17:3

If you have ever seen unpurified gold or silver, you know it does not look very impressive and not worth much. But once it has been purified, it becomes very valuable! The transformation that must take place will require intense heat. The fire will burn away all impurities leaving the gold in the most purest state. It takes time and a lot of heat, but gold will be converted from granite with little value, to a nugget worth much.

My grandfather once asked me this question. If you squeeze something as hard as you can, what will come out? The answer is, whatever is in it. I know that sounds silly but very true. The same is true for people. When we are going through hard times and we feel we are being squeezed, whatever is in us will come out. When those we know are dealing with tough situations, that is a good time to learn what kind of friend we really have. It is easy to put on a good act of kindness and humility when times are good. But if the kindness and humility are not in the heart, it will not show in hard times. Once one feels squeezed, whatever is in the heart will come out.

Understand that Gods desire is for us to achieve the utmost success in our careers, our life and our families. For us to be of great value, often times it requires great heat to melt away the impurities from our heart so the value can take root and grow into great things.

Father, grant me patience today to deal with the heat that comes my way so that you will be pleased by all that is in my heart. AMEN.

Guaranteed Success

"Commit your works to the Lord And your plans will be established." Proverbs 16:3

As a real estate instuctor, I have a unique opportunity to watch people as they decide to start new careers. There is always hope and belief that they can be successful in real estate. However, it takes more than just hope and belief in anything one would like to attempt.

To obtain true success, all we do must be for the right reasons. Many have asked me if I think they can be successful in real estate. My answer is always the same, it does not matter what I think. I ask them why do they seek real estate as a career? The answer is usually the same; such as, the market is coming back, real estate is always a good investment, I am good with other people, etc.

Solomon answeres all such questions better than I could ever answer it. "Commit your works to the Lord...", The question would best be asked, would real estate be Gods will for me at this time? God will always provide for his children. We must ensure that all we do is to the glory of God. Reqardless of how good we are at what we do, when God does not receive the glory, it will soon fail. When we commit all to His glory, Solomon says our "... plans will be established".

Father, I pray that all I do and say today will be pleasing to you. All I do will be to glorify You. AMEN.

A Fulfilled Tree of Life

"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12

It is easy to think about ways to become successful. I hear others making the statement like "someone could make a fortune if they did this or that". Why is it that it is always someone else that can make the forturne? That is an easy answer, because they do not want to put in the necessary work and labor to make it happen for them.

One of my real estate students stated in class that it is wrong for some to make as much money as they do. People should be limited on how much they can recieve and the excess should be distributed to the less fortunate like himself. I can only think he is suffering from a sick heart as Solomon refers too. To acheive the level of success we would enjoy, it required great diligence and perserverence. Successful people will tell you that they failed miserably many more times than they had success.

All of Gods children have a God given right to be successful. We do not have a right to wait on it to be given to us. Determine what you would like to accomplish in your life and pray for Gods vision for you. Gods word says he will provide for all of our needs and in great abundance. All we have to do is ask and have faith. This only works when God is first in our lives. Determine what you are going to do, set goals and objectives, work diligently to make it happen and experice a very fulfilled tree of life!

Provide me with the wisdom and strength to accomplish all those things to be successful in your eyes today. In Jesus name, AMEN.

Dealing with Fear Today

"Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

So many have great fear today. As we see the things going on all around us in the world, for many, it can cause great fear. Fear is a God given emotion to protect us. Fear is used to convict our conscience when we do things we should not do. Most would not rob a bank because they fear the consequences when they are caught. If dad says not to do something, we don't do it out of fear of Dad finding out we disobeyed. This type of fear is good for us as it keeps our lives in check.

Often times, we allow fear to control our lives in the wrong way. We fear losing our jobs and not being able to provide for our family. We fear making a change or being forced to make a change. As I teach students in class the things they need to know to become a real estate agent, I can see and sense the fear in many of the students. They have fear about taking the exam and they have fear about failing in a new career. This type of fear is not good and will destroy relationships, families, careers, etc.

God says "do not have fear, for I am with you." As long as we are living within the will of God, we have no reason to fear anything. We could not have a greater guarantee in life than God. I tell students not to fear the exam. First we must pray that real estate is where God is leading us to be and if so, we must be diligent in all our preparation. We cannot fail in such a scenario. The same would apply when we get a real estate license. If we are in real estate because it is Gods will and we are diligent at what we do, we cannot fail. The same logic applies in everything we do.

Pray to God that you are doing what he has led you to do (not what you think you want to do). God would never ask you to do anything you cannot do and be very successful doing it. We do not need to fear things going on in this country and in the world. It is depressing to see the blatant disobedience of Gods commandments and a severe price will be paid for those that do not repent. Things are likely to get worse for the non-believers. But the children of God have nothing to fear!

Father, I pray that all I do today will be pleasing to you and in fulfillment of your will for me. AMEN.

Starting a Business Requires Great Diligence

"The hand of the diligent will rule, But the slack hand will be put to forced labor." Proverbs 12:24

Working for yourself is much different then working for someone else. There is nothing wrong with having a job and working for others. That is what makes most people happy. But some would rather not work for others. So they seek to start a business of their own. Starting your own business will be one of the hardest things you will likely do.

As a Real Estate Agent and Educator, I work with hundreds of men and women every year wanting to start their real estate careers. It is very clear to me that most have no idea the diligence required to build a successful business. Some say they can only work certain hours or on certain days. They also must do this or must do that. The fact of the matter is that building a business does not lend itself to these demands. In other words, you will fail from the start.

You must be available and have the desire to do anything you need to do to create the success. Those that have jobs will likely have someone to tell them what to do, how to do it and when it must be complete. When you work for yourself, there is no one to tell you anything. This is why Solomon is saying that the Diligent (hard working and never give up) will rule and those that are not willing to put in the effort and time necessary will be forced to labor (work for someone else).

Father, give me the knowledge and wisdom to make good decisions for myself, my family and my business, and that all I do today will be pleasing in your eyes. AMEN.

Look Well into the Matter

"The naive inherit foolishness, But the sensible are crowned with knowledge." Proverbs 14:18

Have you noticed all the get rich quick business propositions surrounding us today? It seems that someone I know has discovered the guaranteed keys to success. Little to no work is involved and no way to fail. However, I need to sign up now (and pay my money to join) to get in on the ground floor. I can't help but wonder why I cannot wait till next week to join if it is so good today. But that is not how it usually works. To have success, I must join now. Next week will be too late and someone else will have what I could have had.

I have certainly been taken by my fair share of these get rich quick schemes. I knew it could not work as easily as it was described to me, but because this person is a respected friend, I agreed. Not once have a even made a dime, much less get rich. I am sure I helped someone else get rich.

Solomon describes this action as foolish. He also says that we must look well into the matter before making any commitments. In Proverbs 10:4 it states the hand of the diligent maketh rich. We must not be taken in by the fast and smooth talking and act foolishly. Be diligent and look well into the matter before making any decisions.

Father, I pray for wisdom and patience so that I will not make hasty decisions without looking well into the matter. Teach me diligence so that I will learn how to work hard and receive the true blessings from you. AMEN.

Knowledge is the Path to Success in all Things

Vs 7- "Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king in place of my father David, yet I am but a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. Vs 9- So give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people to discern good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?" I Kings 3:7-9

God made Solomon King of Israel at a very young age. Solomon, being a man of God, was concerned about his lack of knowledge and was not sure he could succeed as King of Israel. Solomon prayed a simple prayer asking God for knowledge and understanding so that he could successfully lead the people of Israel.

In verse 10, God is very pleased that Solomon would request knowledge and wisdom. God said, "Because you have asked this thing and have not asked for yourself long life, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself discernment to understand justice, behold, I have done according to your words."

God blessed Solomon with more knowledge and wisdom than any man has every had. With this knowledge, Solomon became the most successful businessman ever. Solomon was the richest man that ever lived. Without knowledge and understanding, we have nothing and all things will fail.

Are you struggling in you business or marriage or with family or anything at all? Ask God for the wisdom and knowledge to do as God has led you to do. Ensure your work is Gods will and not your own. God will provide you with all the knowledge and wisdom to be successful in all you do. Pray that you seek to honor God in all that you do. Asking for knowledge for the wrong reasons will not result in Success.

Our Father, I pray that all I do today is pleasing in your eyes. I pray for knowledge and understanding of all things I should deal with today so that everything I do will glorify your kingdom. In Jesus Name, AMEN.

Gain Wisdom through Counsel

"Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is victory." Proverbs 11:14

I was speaking to a group of real estate agents about the importance of finding a mentor that could help and guide the new agents toward success. One of the students suggested that a mentor was foolish and a sign of weakness. He believed that he did not need help from anyone and the things he did not already know, he could learn on his own.

Solomon is considered to be the most successful business man that ever lived. He had it all and shared his secrets of success throughout the book of Proverbs. Those that achieve extraordinary success routinely seek counsel from mentors and others that have knowledge in the area of question. Solomon says that making decisions without guidance will result in failure, whereas those seeking counsel will have victory.

The key is finding the right mentor. When seeking counsel, look for someone that meet these three requirements. 1) Do they seek to please God in all they do? 2) Have they achieved what you desire to achieve? 3) Do they have the respect and reputation at this time that you would like to have when you have achieved? When God is wanting you to make a change in your life, he will always send someone with the perfect counsel and wisdom. It is up to us to listen and obey. We may not like or agree with the counsel, but we must obey or experience failure.

Dear God, I pray that you will make the right person available for me today prior to making any decisions. Help me to make the right decision, not what I want out of the decision. AMEN.

Creating Success in Days of Despair

"How long will you lie down, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest - Your poverty will come in like a vagabond and your need like an armed man." Proverbs 6: 9-11

I hear in the news that the unemployment rate in South Carolina is over 12% and if you add to this number those that have given up on finding work, the number would be around 20%. We are are living in a time of hardship that we have not seen in our generation. So many have given up on their dreams and fallen victim to words and actions of man.

Solomon asks, how long will you lie down and give up on your dreams? Many have even given up on their self and wait for the government to provide the answer and solutions. My friends, the worst thing we can do is to wait on the government for solutions. We are living in a time where phrophecy is being fulfilled daily. Decisions by our government will lead to ruin. Unless we practice diligence and do not procrastinate, "poverty will come in like a vagabond". You will become a vagrant with no place to call home.

God does not react to the things that happen in our lives. It is not for us to understand why God allows things and events to take place in our lives. God has commanded us to be faithful to him and he will not leave or forsake us. It is impossible for us to understand why God would allow his children to go through difficult times because we have finite minds. These are the days we must have faith and beleive God will provide for all our needs.

Be diligent and prepare yourself for the blessings and success God is preparing. Do not be taken in by the words of despair we hear daily from others. We are Gods children and he will provide a door of opportunity if we are diligent and walk through the door when it opens. It will only be open for a very brief moment.

Dear God, give us comfort as we diligently seek your direction. Give us wisdom to make the right decisions and my prayer is that everything we do will glorify your name. In Jesus Name, AMEN.

Dealing with Anxiety in Stressful Times

"Vs 5- Thus says the Lord, Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind and makes flesh his strength, Vs 7- Blessed is the man who trust in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. Vs 8- For he will be like a tree planted by the water that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green and will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit." Jeremiah 17: 5-8

For many of us, we have never seen economic times as they are now. Many businesses are folding and others losing their jobs. Businesses are not hiring and bills have to be paid. We want to provide the best for our families and do not have the resources to do so. Many are losing their homes, cars, and everything they own. Anxiety is causing stress and stress often results in one bad decision after another.

God's word says not to put our faith in mankind. It only makes things worse when we listen to all the despair and react in to what the "experts" say we need to do. God has directed us to turn to him. God will not forget or forsake us. He is our Father and will provide for all the things we need. Seek Gods guidance through prayer. It is not for us to question what is going on or why it is happening to us. We will not understand what God is doing because of our finite minds. In Gods infinate wisdom and by his direction, we will prosper and be happy. Do not be anxious, and know that God is in control. Will you let God also be in control of your life? For only our Father in Heaven knows the road to follow. Take the road to success, not the road that so many others have chosen.

Father, we ask that you remove the anxiety from our minds and hearts so that we can clearly hear what you would have us to do. Let us not make a decision today that has not been inspired by you. May we live our lives in a manner that is acceptable to you and inspiring to others. In Jesus name, AMEN.

Positive Criticism

"He who loves purity of heart And whose speech is gracious, the king is his friend." Proverbs 22:11

Soloman is saying that positive words/criticism will build friends and strong relationships. One of the greatest gifts one can have is friendship. Understand there is a difference between building friendships and knowing someone well. Relationships are not established overnight or in a short period of time. As we grow our relationships, a bond of Trust and Love will be created.

I like referring to this passage when I am teaching real estate classes. I explain that the most successful agents all have one thing in common. They all have alot of Friends. They have learned to focus their time on growing relationships rather than trying to sell someone a house. If someone is looking to buy or sell a house, they will most likely call their friend whom they trust and have confidence in.

Words are powerful and should be chosen carefully. The wrong words with ill intent will destroy relationship. Postive words, even when used to be critical, will build strong and lasting relationships. Relationships are a strong component of success and something we all should work on every day.

Lift up your friends and loved ones today and see how just the words you speak will come back to bless you!

When is Jesus Returning?

"Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of His coming?" 2 Peter 3: 3-4

In verse 1 and 2, Peter is issuing a reminder that Jesus is coming back to establish his Kingdom! Although everyone has heard that the Lord has promised to return, many think in their minds that it is not going to happen because it has not already happened. This brings two questions to mind; What is taking so long and when will it happen?

In verse 8, Peter writes that "with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day". In our finite minds, a thousand years is an eternity. But with God, it is only like one day. Therefore, do not be deceived by those that would mock the return of our Lord and Savior. God said he would come again and we can bank on him coming again!

In verse 10, Peter says the Lord will return like a thief in the night. When Jesus returns, it will be completely unexpected. God's word says that no man knows when he will return. We are instructed to be ready when that day comes.

As we go through life, we see the devastation, war, poverty, and evil works of man kind. So what is God waiting on? He answers that question in verse 9 by saying, "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance." God does not want to see anyone perish and be condemned to the fire of hell. So he is patient and waiting for as many that will turn from their sinful ways through repentance and spend eternity with our Lord and Savior.

We are commanded as his children to spread the good news and cause as many sinners as we can to repent and worship the God of our universe. Let there be NO doubt, Jesus is coming again and it will be at the most unexpected time. Pray that we are now living the life that Jesus would live in an effort to save as many as we can possibly save.
